Krypton Maze Corporate Problem-Solving Team Games in London at Regent’s Conferences and Events for Skanska UK The Client Skanska is one of the UK’s leading contractors. Known for major projects, such as the Gherkin and Crossrail, they are building, upgrading and maintaining the country’s infrastructure. Drawing on their Scandinavian heritage, they are green, innovative and progressive. They bring together people and technology, as part of their quest to make construction a safer and more collaborative industry. This wasn’t the first time Gable Events had worked with Skanska as they are regular entrants to our London Construction Industry Dragon Boat Challenge in aid of CRASH. The Brief Gable Events is very proud to be preferred event supplier to Regent’s Conferences and Events and we were recommended to Skanska UK to provide a suitable team building activity for approximately 100 of their staff at this beautiful Central London venue. The client was looking for corporate problem-solving team games in London to follow their morning meeting and lunch to last around three hours. The activity needed to appeal to a variety of age ranges and couldn’t be too physically demanding. Gable Events proposed a choice of either a Krypton Maze or Soapbox Derby as both activities fitted the brief perfectly. Skanska opted for the Krypton Maze as they felt the variety of problem solving team games would contain something to please all tastes with a mixture of outdoor and indoor activities testing many key skills that are directly transferable to the workplace. The Venue Located in Regent’s Park within 11 acres of private grounds, Regent’s University London is a unique venue for any occasion in the heart of London. The venue offers a selection of meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology, superb on-site catering and fabulous outdoor event space. With a selection of rooms available all year round, it is an ideal venue for meetings, training, conferences, weddings and summer parties. Baker Street underground station is 10 minutes walk away and there are plenty of high quality hotels close by offering overnight accommodation. The Event The 100 delegates were split into 10 teams and briefed on the 10 different games they would be competing head to head on throughout the 3-hour event, with the highest scoring team to be declared the winners. Safe Breaker shone through as the most popular corporate problem-solving game in the opening set of five activities with teams given the task of working out a 4-digit code to open a series of safes using cryptic clues. Teams worked as quickly and efficiently as possible and were rewarded with a sweet surprise if they were successful in opening all four safes. The second half of the event brought five new problem-solving games, of which the team inflatable basketball challenge was a definite crowd-pleaser in the glorious sunshine. To finish the event with a bang, all the teams met outside for the spectacular rocket launch finale. Each team had been tasked with designing a rocket using a lemonade bottle and craft materials. The growing anticipation matched the pressure building in each rocket as teams carefully pumped air until the rockets took flight. The winning team were awarded their engraved medals and the guests retired for drinks at the bar to round off a very successful event. Skanska’s event organiser commented on how professionally the games were run and that Gable Events preferred supplier status and knowledge of Regent’s Conferences and Events meant that she had complete peace of mind in the delivery of the event.
